CYCLOHEXANE-1,1-DICARBOXYLIC ACID - Introduction
Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid (also known as adipic acid) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H10O4.
Nature:
Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid is a colorless crystalline solid, which is slightly soluble in water at normal temperature, but soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers. Has a special aroma and sour taste.
Use:
Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid has a wide range of uses. First of all, it is an important raw material for polyester resins, which can be used to make coatings, plastics and fibers. Secondly, cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid can also be used in the synthesis of special solvents, dyes and pharmaceutical intermediates. In addition, it is also commonly used in chemical experiments as an initiator to provide a carbon source for reactions.
Preparation Method:
Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid can be prepared by oxidation of cyclohexane. Cyclohexane is usually oxidized to cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid under appropriate reaction conditions using benzyl peroxide or hydrogen peroxide as the oxidizing agent.
Safety Information:
Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid has a low impact on human health, but its dust or vapor is irritating and may cause irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract. Wear protective gloves, glasses and masks during operation. Care should be taken to avoid contact with ignition sources and combustibles during storage and handling.
